Type locality is clearly in error, should be western Atlantic (see Hastings & Springer 1994:23 [ref. 21894]). •Synonym of Stathmonotus stahli (Evermann & Marsh 1899) -- (Hastings & Springer 1994:21 [ref. 21894], Kim & Hastings 2013:8 [ref. 33286] in Labrisomidae).
