Holotype (unique): BMNH 1867.9.23.18. •Valid as Umbrina analis Günther 1868 -- (Walker & Radford 1992:581 [ref. 20257], Chao in Fischer et al. 1995:1512 [ref. 22830], De La Cruz Agüero et al. 1997:270 [ref. 24545], Chirichigno F. & Vélez D. 1998:317 [ref. 24555], Nelson et al. 2004:149 [ref. 27807], Love et al. 2005:129 [ref. 37547], Page et al. 2013:153 [ref. 32708], Parenti 2020:54 [ref. 37439], Love et al. 2021:167 [ref. 39279]). Current status: Valid as Umbrina analis Günther 1868. Sciaenidae. Distribution: Eastern Pacific: Pacific coast of southern Baja California Sur (Mexico) south to northern Ecuador, including southern Gulf of California (Mexico). Habitat: marine.

tumacoensis, Umbrina Wilson [C.] 1916:67, Pl. 10 [Annals of the Carnegie Museum v. 10 (nos 1/2); ref. 12398] Tumaco, Department of Nariño, Colombia. Holotype: FMNH 56840 [ex CM 5654] (missing). Paratypes: CAS 62852 [IU 13438 b-c] (2), FMNH 56840 [ex CM 5654b-c] (2). Type catalog: Henn 1928:92 [ref. 12305], Ibarra & Stewart 1987:84 [ref. 12367]. IU catalogue entry for 13438 is a-c (3 specimens), with "a" the "type" (holotype), but that specimen is 183 mm TL and cannot be the type; recataloged as CAS 62853. Original spelling of the species was tumacoënsis. •Synonym of Umbrina analis Günther 1868 -- (Walker & Radford 1992:581 [ref. 20257], Chao in Fischer et al. 1995:1512 [ref. 22830], Parenti 2020:54 [ref. 37439]). Current status: Synonym of Umbrina analis Günther 1868. Sciaenidae. Habitat: marine.
