lemmingii, Leuciscus Steindachner [F.] 1866:79 [Anzeiger der Kaiserlichen Akademie der Wissenschaften, Mathematisch-Naturwissenschaftlichen Classe v. 3; ref. 21716] Guadiana River and tributaries near Merida; rivers Guadalquivir and Guadaira near Sevilla, Spain. Syntypes: NMW 52356-57 (4, 2), 52362 (2), 52366 (2), 52373 (4). Species first spelled as leminingii when described in the above abstract (apparently in error), spelling later appeared as lemmingii when later illustrated and described in more detail in Steindachner 1866:265 [p. 5 of separate], Pl. 1 [ref. 18777]. Also in Steindachner 1866:8, 9 [ref. 18757] as Chondrostoma lemmingii. •Valid as Rutilus lemmingii (Steindachner 1866) -- (Kottelat 1997:78 [ref. 22952]). •Valid as Chondrostoma lemmingii (Steindachner 1866) -- (Doadrio & Carmona 2003:30 [ref. 28132], Coelho et al. 2005:202 [ref. 28430], Gante et al. 2010:968 [ref. 35176], Çiftci et al. 2020:214 [ref. 37725]). •Valid as Iberochondrostoma lemmingii (Steindachner 1866) -- (Robalo et al. 2007:370 [ref. 28878], Doadrio & Elvira 2007:296 [ref. 29510], Kottelat & Freyhof 2007:197 [ref. 29996], Perea et al. 2010:15 [ref. 31802]). Current status: Valid as Iberochondrostoma lemmingii (Steindachner 1866). Leuciscidae: Leuciscinae. Distribution: Southwestern Europe: Ibearian Peninsula (Spain and Portugal). Habitat: freshwater.
