Description Round basket with flat base and vertical sides, along with round lid with low sides and flat-topped central chamber containing small pebbles; Warp and weft material throughout basket and lid is spruce roots; Base and sides of basket, as well as the lid, all have areas that are woven in plain twining and areas that alternate between rows of plain twining and simple plaiting; Designs are woven mostly in false embroidery technique, using undyed and dyed (red and green) bear grass leaves and black maidenhair fern stems; Wide band around sides of basket is divided into 3 large and 3 small rectangular panels; Large panels contain series of wide chevrons (1 green one flanked by 2 straw-colored ones) with remaining end spaces filled in half in black and half in red, and small panels each contain 2 black bisected diamonds on straw-colored background; Narrow red and green band below main design band is woven of dyed spruce roots in plain twining; Top of lid is divided into two concentric bands which are subdivided into quadrants, decorated with red and green or black and green bars; red and green plain twined band of dyed spruce root encircles each band.

Description Small round basket with flat base, straight sides, and high shoulder with recessed rim, and corresponding lid with small knobbed handle, woven in a combination of several techniques; Warp material is cedar splints and primary weft material is bear grass; Base of basket is woven in plain twining technique with rye grass stems as the weft; Sides of basket and entire lid are woven in wrapped twining technique, using bear grass and probably rye grass stems as the primary wefts; Horizontal cedar splint is inserted above shoulder and several more rows of twining are completed above it; Designs on sides are woven of aniline-dyed bear grass and consist of parallel black, yellow, and red bands along lower sides and a purple whale, blue and yellow inuksuit (Inuit term for stone rock cairns), and green and pink floral motif, each repeated twice around sides; Round lid has short side that fits over recessed rim of basket and short knob handle; Designs on lid are similar to those on basket, except whale and inuksuk (singular of inuksuit) only appear once; Knob and area around its base are black, encircled by band of small black triangles.
