m, f, juveniles. Fixed in 10% buffered (dolomite) formalin ~1 month. |
Collecting Event Remarks |
Water temp. = 16 C. Most traps set against shore vegetation. Traps pulled at 1500 hr on 22 May. Large stickleback sample obtained, including a few gravid females and one highly colored male. Divers seen nesting males and solicity female who was dorsal pricked. There was a very wide range of sizes of apparently gravid females (20-70 mm SL). Temp=16°C in shallows on 22 May. Species present: Gasterosteus aculeatus, Oncorhynchus mykiss. Craig saw lots of nest-guarding males. No courtship or distraction displays. Lots of blue males becoming territorial. |
