m, f, juveniles. Fixed in 10% buffered (dolomite) formalin ~1 month. |
Collecting Event Remarks |
Water temp. = 21.5 C. Most fish seined from large triangular pool (10x10x15 m) and a smaller triangular pool (11x8x8 m) both of which receive a gentle flow of water. 5 garter snakes seen of which 4 captured, each contained G. aculeatus. Total length of snakes (2) 60 cm, (2) 45 cm. Partially digested fish obtained from 2 largest snakes, 1 from 1, 2 from the other. Intestine protruding from 2 partially digested fish, the other is 0 plated and very pale. Garter snakes considered very abundant as are the sticklebacks. Numerous males in nuptial coloration. Many small sticklebacks thrown back. Also caught Oncorhynchus sp. |
