m, f, juveniles. Fixed in 10% buffered (dolomite) formalin ~1 month. |
Collecting Event Remarks |
Water temp. = 21 C. Most large fish in poor condition, emaciated and sometimes necrotic. No males in reproductive condition. No gravid females. Terrestrial garter snake seen. Many small sticklebacks thrown back. Freshwater clams present. Many trout present within 30 m of shore, many planted (S. gairdneri). But conditions may be poor for them - seven seen dead along 100 m of shore. Of 10 stomachs examined (average 9 in) most were mostly empty and contained snails and insects. A few large dead sticklebacks seen along the shore. Also caught Hypomesus pretiosus and Cottus sp. |
