Collecting Event Remarks |
Water temp. = 16 C. We set 8 traps/site. These are the five sites I set each year. Traps pulled on 12 June at 1045 hr. Samples were fairly small when we pulled traps. Therefore, we set 20 1/8" in mesh traps to left (looking at lake) of boat ramp. We set another 10 at regular spot along edge of gravel pit for DNA samples. The lake vegetation is not well developed. Many lilies have not even sprouted, though others have leaves above water level with worn and browning leaves. Substantial Chara patches exist, but most of the Chara is not growing. Saw one common loon and one red-necked grebe. Man in gravel pit office was not aware that there is a discharge creek though he thought it was possible. I need to check. Pulled 20 traps from site A at about 1200 hr. Got about 600 stickleback. Also pulled traps at gravel pit trail for Etoh preservation. |
