Collecting Event Remarks Water Temp. = 21 C. An area of moderately flowing stream with small dams built, access at a fallen log. Many of the fish were found behind these obstacles where the current slows and along the margin of riffles in the vegetation. Some males [Gasterosetus aculeatus] with nuptial coloration were seen. In riffles all but small fraction of stream width choked with emergent vegetation (60 cm). Also caught Gila orcutti,Gambusia affinis, and Catostomus sp.

Collecting Event Remarks Water Temp. = 24 C. Some males with nuptial coloration seen. Many sticklebacks seen swimming in current. Gila orcutti relatively rare - sticklebacks abundant. Stream sinks into sand within 100 m downstream of bridge. Most of the habitat consists of shallow pools formed by small dams. Garter snake caught. Local water and power man said that sticklebacks have been here since the 30s. Gila orcutti fry abundant in shallows. Dead sticklebacks noted. Also caught Gila orcutti.

Collecting Event Remarks Water Temp. = 14 C. Outlet pond below Lopez dam, dimensions 300 by 50 m. Almost all fish collected from a single school at mouth of inlet to pond. Fish collected in 1 seine haul; only 1 specimen [of Gasterosteus aculeatus] with male nuptial coloration seen; fish seem to congregate where cold water from Lopez Lake meets the water of the pool.

Collecting Event Remarks Water Temp. = 28 C. All but a few of the fish were taken below the spillway of an earth and concrete dam. The sticklebacks came from the margins of the stream where the water velocity is slight. Sticklebacks very rare, only one was found upstream of dam. Also caught "Gila?," "Catostomus?" and Gambusia affinis.

Collecting Event Remarks Water Temp. = 21 C. Gasterosteus aculeatus extremely abundant in this area of stream which has shrunken considerably probably concentrating the fish. No males with nuptial coloration nor gravid females seen. The fish were so abundant that most were thrown back from first seine haul. Thus the sample may be unintentionally biased in favor of large fish. Also caught Gila orcutti and Catostomus sp.

The larger pool has cobbles with algae growing on them. No nuptial males or gravid females seen. Also caught Gila orcutti, Catostomus sp., and unknown cyprinid.
