Collecting Event Remarks Water Temp. = 22 C. A segment of stream impounded behind a dirt road. It is drained by 2 culverts, one of which is flowing very slightly. Pool is 60% covered with algae. Very few gravid females [Gasterosteus aculeatus] and no males with fully developed nuptial coloration. No fry. Also caught Gambusia affinis, Gila orcutti, and unknown cyprinid.

Collecting Event Remarks Water Temp. = 23.5 C. This area is similar to the last station: 15-30 m pools in low spots among boulders. The fish were taken from four pools with varying amounts of algae. Those with the most algae had the most fish. Also caught Oncorhynchus mykiss and Gila orcutti.

A garter snake, 25 cm long, was seen in water; when caputured both pelvic spines and 2 dorsal spines were protruding from its neck (possibly due to my capture). Also caugth Gila orcutti, Gambusia affinis, Pimephales promelas, Lepomis, sp., and Catostomus sp.

Collecting Event Remarks Water Temp. = 21 C. Boggy area with very sluggish flow. Mostly choked with vegetation. Of 14 m width on 1 side, 3 m is choked with emergent broadleaf and on the other 5.5 m is choked with emergent broadleaf. This is a side stream. The mainstream is closer to the hill and is about 30 m wide. Many fish were emaciated, but none dead. No gravid females. Some males in nuptial coloration. Also caught Gila orcutti, Pimephales promelas, and Lepomis sp.

Above this area for several hundred meters only 2 sticklebacks were seen. As we moved downstream, they became progressively more abundant. Trout large and small are very abundant in this area. Also caught Oncorhynchus mykiss and Gila orcutti.
