Collecting Event Remarks Water Temp. = 24.5 C. Sticklebacks were obtained mostly under willows dipping into water. This is downstream from a sewage plant, water smells foul, a tumor was seen on a stickleback. Lepomis was found nearly dead. Two varieties of snails were abundant here. Crayfish were fairly abundant. Algal growth was very well developed covering nearly entire bottom. Also caught Gila orcutti and Lepomis sp.

Collecting Event Remarks Water Temp. = 27.8 C. Gasterosteus aculeatus very abundant here. They are very truncated here as near the mouth. A few Lepomis were seen but none captured. Water does not seem as foul here. Filamentous algae and Lamnaria still abundant. Most sticklebacks seined in open just where current slowed. Currents swirls in very slow eddies where most fish captured. Also caught Gila orcutti.

Collecting Event Remarks Water Temp. = 17.5 C. Trout most abundant. Many gravid females but no males in reproductive condition. Sticklebacks seined over green marine algae - not brown. Collecting done below high tide mark but salinity=0. Trout were silvery closer to mouth, apparently ready for sea run but trout seined above high tide mark were greenish and had more red along sides. Seining over ~300 m of water. Also caugh Oncorhynchus mykiss and Cottus sp.

Collecting Event Remarks Water Temp. = 20.8 C. Seems to be freshwater (frog, snails) although it must rise and fall with tides. Some males [Gasterosteus aculeatus] with nuptial colorations. Many gravid female sticklebacks very common. Gobies only in reeds at left. Mostly large sticklebacks, few small ones. Also caught Eucyclogobius newberryi and Leptocottus armatus.

Collecting Event Remarks Water Temp. = 21.7C. This was a pool with deep detritus bottom covered mostly by emergent broadleaf vegetation. Sticklebacks rare. Just upstream is a tank (MAB75-29) with numerous Lepomis. No Lepomis here, though. Also caught Gambusia affiniis.

Very heterogeneous including rocks, bridge wall, mud banks with exposed roots, waterfall. Most stickleback collected under bridge between wall and rock embankment. This is upstream of a fall under which most Cottus found. Most frozen specimens from above fall. Also caught Gila orcutti and Cottus sp.

Collecting Event Remarks Water Temp. = 17.0 C. This is an open area with reeds up and down stream. It is 10x7m mud banks on either side. Many males in high nuptial coloration but no gravid females. Male nuptial coloration here as elsewhere in this creek including red on pectoral axilla and base of anal fin. Red on anal base only in most highly colored males. Also caught Gila orcutti.

Collecting Event Remarks Water Temp. = 17.0 C. This station is in a section where the stream is cutting through alluvium to depth of 6 m. Cave-ins form pools in which fish collected. Many gravid-looking sticklebacks with slight nuptial coloration. One side is riparian woodland, other an open field. Very few small sticklebacks here. Some [Gasterosteus aculeatus] males with nuptial coloration. Also caught Gila sp and Cottus sp.

Collecting Event Remarks Water Temp. = 16 C. Fishes collected from ~150 m of stream. Taken from pools and a few below falls and in slowly moving current. An introduced turtle was also collected. There were several males with moderate nuptial coloration but no gravid females and very few small sticklebacks (all saved). One pool to at least 1 m. Also caught Gila orcutti.

Collecting Event Remarks Water Temp. = 17 C. No other species present. Native bullfrog taken. This locality is a marsh, mostly filled in with reeds - that collection was made in two openings, one 3x4m and the other 5x8m, with most of the fish being taken from the larger "pool" - the small pool was before small culverts going under road. Some males [Gasterosteus aculeatus] moderate nuptial, some small fish present, all fish kept.

Nuptial coloration identical to San Antonio Creek (Vandenberg AFB) with red on pectoral and anal fin bases and red spots along ventral abdomen. Garter snakes abundant. 3 morphs seen: unlined, 2 lined (no mid stripe) and 3 lined. When reservoir is full, this area is inundated. Also caught Gambusia affinis and other minnows.

Pool behind beaver dam forming an equilateral triangle in shape. Male with nuptial coloration had very dark pigment over hind 3/4 of body (behind head). Nuptial coloration have as in Huasna River and San Antonio Creek, Vandenberg AFB. Also caught Gila orcutti and Gambusia affinis.
