Then on ectocoracoid and up to posterior dorsal base of pectoral and back across lateral plates. The whole ventral head to rear of pelvic girdle red. The iris was bright blue as was the dorsal surface to a lesser extent. This male was taken in the same seine haul as a gravid female with anterior plates only. Habitat is a curve in the river with a sandbar on the inside of the curve and we seined around the sandbar. Fish also came from backwater. Cotids are abundant. Shrimp are present. Took about 10 seine hauls to get our limit. Also caught cottid and Platichthys sp. |

Water Temp. = 21C. Most of the fish were seined in <25 cm of water. Upstream of this point G. aculeatus became increasingly rare until they became absent at point indicated on map. Conversely within the same stretch of stream, Oncorhynchus sp. become increasingly abundant. Upstream of this point the river becomes increasingly dominated by alternating riffles and pools with occassional water falls of about 3 a meter. However these falls are probably not used at during high water. |

The fish were collected along the south shore of the river in emergent grasses from the bridge about 150 m downstream. The sticklebacks were very silvery and included completely plated and low plated among the few specimens examined. No individuals in reproductive conditions seen. Many small sticklebacks thrown back. Also Cottus asper, Syngnathus sp, atherinid sp., clupeid sp, and Cymatogaster aggregata. |
