Water Temp. = 20 C. Current was 11 sec/5 m but most of the sticklebacks came from margin of channel and point upstream where the current was negligable. Fish have a very green tint. Nest guarding male seen. Fish are silver below the lateral surface and green above. Habitat: stream running through sand dunes which is stabilized by vegetation. Caprellids present; gravid females present. Also caught Leptocottus armatus, cottid, Platichthys sp. and Gambusia sp. |

Also caught Cyprinidae sp., Oncorhynchus mykiss, and Lepomis sp. |

Fish collected in 1 seine haul; only 1 specimen [of Gasterosteus aculeatus] with male nuptial coloration seen; fish seem to congregate where cold water from Lopez Lake meets the water of the pool. |

m, f, juveniles. Fixed in 10% buffered (dolomite) formalin ~1 month. |
Collecting Event Remarks |
Water Temp. = 19.8 C. Sticklebacks not abundant. No stickleback fry or gravid females. Nuptial coloration identical to San Antonio Creek (Vandenberg AFB) with red on pectoral and anal fin bases and red spots along ventral abdomen. Garter snakes abundant. 3 morphs seen: unlined, 2 lined (no mid stripe) and 3 lined. When reservoir is full, this area is inundated. Also caught Gambusia affinis and other minnows. |
