Water Temp. = 17 C. No other species present. Native bullfrog taken. This locality is a marsh, mostly filled in with reeds - that collection was made in two openings, one 3x4m and the other 5x8m, with most of the fish being taken from the larger "pool" - the small pool was before small culverts going under road. Some males [Gasterosteus aculeatus] moderate nuptial, some small fish present, all fish kept. |

The males with the greatest nuptial coloration in addition to the usual thrust and head red coloration had red behind the eye, on the pectoral axilla, on posterior pubic plate and ectocoracoid and specks along mid ventral line back to vent and anal spine. Also caught Gila orcutti. |

Water temp. = 23 C. This is another remnant pool (see MAB79-17) about 50 m long. Shortly after we arrived, we observed water to begin flowing from upstream and the pool got deeper and possibly cooler. The minnows may represent Gila, Hesperoleucus and hybrids. One had orange-salmon colored markings on fins and head. Also caught Gila orcutti (?), Hesperoleucas symmetricus or their hybrids, and Rhinichthys osculus. |
