Water temp. = ? C. This is the same place sampled in 1975. Male and females Gasterosteus in reproductive condition, but not many fry. However 20-30 mm fish most common. Sticklebacks were common in the middle of the stream where current was moderate. This area was overgrown with willows and the stream choked with emergent broadleafs and algae in 1975. Now it is open due to flooding. The stream is much broader with greater discharge now. Also caught Gila orcutti. |

Water temp. = 22 C. This is a check dam for irrigation that we sampled below in 1974. Sticklebacks were taken mostly below a shelf of concrete at the base of the spillway. There were mostly small Gasterosteus but a few large ones. There were a number of males with nuptial coloration (a few high) and one gravid female. There were no fry but a few fish <25 mm SL. Numerous large suckers were in the spillway. There were a number of male Pimephales with nuptial coloration. Also caught Gambusia affinis, Catostomus santaanae, Gila orcutti, and Pimephales promelas. |

Most fish came from under emergent, marginal vegetation or algae floating around an emergent boulder. Some males had red on throat and shoulder girdle, but none had blue, and no females were gravid. There were abundant small fish but no fry. Also caught Gila orcutti. |

Water temp. = ? C. Fish were seined from a shallow pool above the bridge at Foster Park; a fairly flat graded (bulldozed) basin with a dam of cobbles built by kids at the bottom. It is about 50 m long and 20 m wide. Most fish were seined from below floating filamentous algae, near the inlet were there is some current. The minnows (20) and sculpin (2) came from the stream. A wide range of body sizes, down to very young fry were picked out of the seined algae, and there were some nuptial males, but no gravid females. Also, lots of small fish, down to 2 cm had a bit of red on the chin. |
