Locality Rio Verde. (Stanford catalog has 'Oaxaca?' in remarks column)
Latitude-Longitude 17.053924°, -96.702589°; uncertainty: 3667 m (Source: FishNet Collaborative Georeferencing Project) Bottom Type
Georef. RemarksStanford cat. remark, 'Oaxaca?' is CORRECT.Meek was in Chalco (close to Mexico City) on May 1st, then Oaxaca (capital of the state of Oaxaca) on May 4th, and then at Cuicatlan, Oaxaca, on May 5th, 1901. It is impossible that the Rio Verde in this record is the one in San Luis Potosi, since Meek traveled by rail.Having said that, no such Rio Verde at this locality, except maybe a tributary of the two main rivers: Rio Atoyac and "Rio" or "Arroyo" Salado. Marker and polygon on river system close to RR.
Acc. Number Specimen Remarks "Dionda rasconis is probably an endangered species. Rick Mayden could not catch any in 1989." - RRM. See C.L. Hubbs & R.R. Miller, 1977 for account of this species.
Collecting Event Remarks "SU 21[1]46 is not from the Rio Verde, Oaxaca City (a drainage to the Pacific that has no species of Dionda) but it is probably Rascon, San Luis Potosi (loosely called Rio Verde by Meek. He collected there on V:6:1903 and got D. rasconis." - R.R. Miller.
