Type by monotypy, second species doubtfully included; type also designated by Richardson 1842:120 [ref. 12568]; see Whitley 1935:138 [ref. 6396]. Correct spelling for genus of type species is Centropristis. •Valid as Arripis Jenyns 1840 -- (Paulin 1993:460 [ref. 20997], Gomon et al. 1994:593 [ref. 22532], Hutchins 2001:3304 [ref. 26125], Bray et al. 2006:1328 [ref. 29091], Gomon 2008:597 [ref. 30616], Trnski & Roberts 2015:1332 [ref. 34203]). Mulloides Richardson [J.] (ex Solander) 1843:16 Masc. Centropristes sapidissimus Richardson 1842. Type by subsequent designation (also monotypic). First published in synonymy, but recognized as a senior homonym by Whitley 1929:122 [ref. 4665], who replaced Mulloides Bleeker 1849 (see Art. 11.6). The type of Mulloides Richardson is the species designated by Whitley as Centropristes sapidissimus Richardson, which is the available species associated with Mulloides by Richardson. •Synonym of Arripis Jenyns 1840 -- (Paulin 1993:460 [ref. 20997]).
