Holotype: MZB 3536. Paratypes: (48) BMNH 1982.3.29.132-134 (3); CAS 49354 (12), 52591 (1); FMNH 94233 (3); MNHN 1982-0698 (3); MZB 3537, 3538, 3539 (2?), 3540 (1), 3541; RMNH 28876 (2); USNM 230268 (7); ZMA 116537. •Valid as Barbucca diabolica Roberts 1989 -- (Kottelat 1990:251 [ref. 14137], Kottelat et al. 1993:51 [ref. 23448], Kottelat & Lim 1996:235 [ref. 23210], Doi 1997:16 [ref. 22832], Kottelat & Widjanarti 2005:156 [ref. 28284], Kottelat 2012:43 [ref. 32367], Kottelat 2013:185 [ref. 32989], Hasan et al. 2023:[2] [ref. 40629]). Current status: Valid as Barbucca diabolica Roberts 1989. Barbuccidae. Distribution: Southeast Asia: Malaya and Sarawak (Malaysia), southern Thailand, and Sumatra, Belitung Island and Kalimantan (Indonesia). Habitat: freshwater.

P.] 2013:317, Figs. 1-3 [Journal of Ichthyology v. 53 (no. 5); ref. 32739] Stream in the Cua Can River basin, 10°19.432'N, 104°02.107'E, Phu Quoc Island, Gulf of Thailand, Vietnam. Holotype: ZMMU P-22922. Paratypes: ZMMU P-22993 (1), P-22994 (1), P-22995 (1). Plus non-type specimens. •Valid as Barbucca elongata Vasil'eva & Vasil'ev 2013 -- (Kottelat 2013:185 [ref. 32989]). Current status: Valid as Barbucca elongata Vasil'eva & Vasil'ev 2013. Barbuccidae. Distribution: Southeast Asia: Phu Quoc Island, Gulf of Thailand, Vietnam. Habitat: freshwater.
