Diacantha (subgenus of Canthophrys) Swainson [W.] 1839:190, 310 Fem. Diacantha zebra Swainson 1839 (= Cobitis geto Hamilton 1822). Type by subsequent designation. As Diacanthus on p. 190. Eschmeyer 1990:123 serves as first reviser. Swainson's Diacantha zebra is an unneeded name change for Cobitis geto Hamilton. Type designated by Swain1883 (see Kottelat 2004:11 [ref. 27360]). Earliest subsequent designation apparently by Jordan 1919:195 (see Kottelat 2004:12 [ref. 27360]). Spelled Hymenophysa by Bleeker 1858-59:303 [ref. 366] and by Günther 1868:366 [ref. 1990] and authors; original spelling probably should be used; Bleeker's spelling is an incorrect subsequent spelling.
