Current status: Valid as Centrogenys pogonoskii Matsunuma & Johnson 2023. Centrogenyidae. Distribution: Western Pacific: western, northern and eastern Australia. Habitat: marine.

Type catalog: Bauchot et al. 1984:13 [ref. 19232]. New name for Scorpaena vaigiensis Quoy & Gaimard 1824. Spelling as scorpenoides was the original spelling. Original genus should have been Centropristis. •Objective synonym of Centrogenys vaigiensis (Quoy & Gaimard 1824) -- (Leis & Trnski 1999:413 [ref. 24201], Hoese 2006:1036 [ref. 28998], Matsunuma & Johnson 2023:510 [ref. 40587]). Current status: Synonym of Centrogenys vaigiensis (Quoy & Gaimard 1824). Centrogenyidae. Habitat: brackish, marine.
