Chaca Valenciennes [A.] 1832:386 Fem. Chaca lophioides Cuvier & Valenciennes in Valenciennes 1832 (= Platystacus chaca Hamilton 1822). Type by monotypy. The species lophioides apparently is an unneeded substitute for Platystacus chaca Hamilton. Apparently described independent of, and preoccupied by Chaca Gray 1831. Objectively invalid. •Objective synonym of Chaca Gray 1831 -- (Roberts 1982:896 [ref. 6807], Ferraris 2007:135 [ref. 29155], Kottelat 2013:240 [ref. 32989]). 1°Homonym.
