Current status: Valid as Centrarchops atlanticus (Reichenow 1877). Dinopercidae. Distribution: Eastern Atlantic: Gabon south to Angola. Habitat: marine. chapini, Centrarchops Fowler [H. Holotype (unique): AMNH 8282 (missing). •Valid as Centrarchops chapini Fowler 1923 -- (Heemstra & Hecht 1986:14 [ref. 5971], Smith 1990:695 [ref. 18227], Randall 1995:139 [ref. 22896] as chapin, Heemstra & Heemstra 2004:194 [ref. 28072]). •Synonym of Centrarchops atlanticus (Reichenow 1877) -- (Iwatsuki & Heemstra in Carpenter & De Angelis 2016:2695 [ref. 34618]). Current status: Synonym of Centrarchops atlanticus (Reichenow 1877). Dinopercidae. Habitat: marine. petersi, Hapalogenys Day [F.] 1875:77, Pl. 20 (fig. 3) [The fishes of India Part 1; ref. 1080] Pakistan and the Mekran coast of Iran. Surviving syntypes: ZSI F336 (figured specimen, skin). Distribution: Western Indian Ocean: Eastern Cape and KwaZulu-Natal (South Africa) and East Africa (Mozambique, Tanzania, Kenya) east to Pakistan. Habitat: marine. queketti, Dinoperca Boulenger [G. A.] 1903:63, Pl. 2 [Annals of the South African Museum v. 3 (pt 3); ref. 15011] Kwazulu-Natal coast, South Africa, southwestern Indian Ocean.
