Holotype (unique): ZMB 10179. •Senior synonym of Centrarchops chapini Fowler 1923, on ms by Heemstra & Iwasuki in press -- (Iwatsuki & Russell 2006:43 [ref. 28928]). •Incertae sedis in Haemulidae, probably in the synonymy of Centrarchops chapini Fowler 1923 -- (Parenti 2019:186 [ref. 37021]). •Valid as Centrarchops atlanticus (Reichenow 1877) -- (Heemstra & Heemstra 2004:194 [ref. 28072], Iwatsuki & Heemstra in Carpenter & De Angelis 2016:2692 [ref. 34618], Fermon et al. 2022:276 [ref. 39448]). Current status: Valid as Centrarchops atlanticus (Reichenow 1877). Dinopercidae. Distribution: Eastern Atlantic: Gabon south to Angola. Habitat: marine.

Holotype (unique): AMNH 8282 (missing). •Valid as Centrarchops chapini Fowler 1923 -- (Heemstra & Hecht 1986:14 [ref. 5971], Smith 1990:695 [ref. 18227], Randall 1995:139 [ref. 22896] as chapin, Heemstra & Heemstra 2004:194 [ref. 28072]). •Synonym of Centrarchops atlanticus (Reichenow 1877) -- (Iwatsuki & Heemstra in Carpenter & De Angelis 2016:2695 [ref. 34618]). Current status: Synonym of Centrarchops atlanticus (Reichenow 1877). Dinopercidae. Habitat: marine.
