Histiocottus Gill [T. N.] 1889:573 Masc. Peropus bilobus of Lay & Bennett 1839 (= Blepsias bilobus Cuvier 1829). Type by being a replacement name. Replacement for Peropus Lay & Bennett 1839, preoccupied in reptiles. Objectively invalid; preoccupied by Peropus Weigmann 1835 in reptiles, replaced by Histiocottus Gill 1889, •In the synonymy of Blepsias Cuvier 1829 -- (Bolin 1944:99 [ref. 6379], Parin et al. 2002:S90 [ref. 28300], Mecklenburg 2003:2 [ref. 27294], Parin et al. 2014:279 [ref. 33547]). 1°Homonym.
