Current status: Valid as Aulichthys japonicus Brevoort 1862. Hypoptychidae. Distribution: Northwestern Pacific: eastern China to Korea and Japan. Habitat: marine.

septipinnis, Ammodytes Pallas [P. S.] 1814:227 [Zoographia Rosso-Asiatica v. 3; ref. 3351] American ocean [? Kamchatka]. Family placement follows Fowler (MS). The species septipinnis is the type species of Rhynchias. Current status: Uncertain. Hypoptychidae. Habitat: marine.
