Paratypes: MRAC 154701-02 (2); CAS-SU 63460-61 (1, 1), 63462 (orig. 20, now 14 + 2 c&s); USNM 202502 [ex CAS-SU 63462] (1). Type catalog: Vari & Howe 1991:29 [ref. 19022]. •Valid as Lepidarchus adonis Roberts 1966 -- (Paugy 1984:173 [ref. 6183], Paugy in Lévêque et al. 1990:234 [ref. 21589], Paugy et al. 1990:337 [ref. 26477], Poll & Gosse 1995:139 [ref. 24781], Dankwa et al. 1999:20 [ref. 28023], Melo & Stiassny 2024:[21] [ref. 41653]). Current status: Valid as Lepidarchus adonis Roberts 1966. Lepidarchidae. Distribution: West Africa: coastal rivers of Ghana, Ivory Coast, Liberia, Sierra Leone and Guinea. Habitat: freshwater.

H.] 1970:133 [Beaufortia v. 18 (no. 234); ref. 19238] Small creek, southeast of Robertsfield airfield, about 50 miles southeast of Monrovia, Liberia, about 6°12'N, 10°20'W. Holotype: ZMA 110208. Paratypes: MCZ 46682 (1), Géry coll. No. 0627 AFR (1), ZMA 110209-10 (11, 1). Type catalog: Nijssen et al. 1982:21 [ref. 19236]. One paratype in error, removed on K. Hartel email 14 Mar. 2016 •Synonym of Lepidarchus adonis Roberts 1966. Current status: Synonym of Lepidarchus adonis Roberts 1966. Lepidarchidae. Habitat: freshwater.

spilopterus, Petersius Boulenger [G. A.] 1909:239, Fig. 182 [Catalogue of the fresh-water fishes of Africa v. 1; ref. 14364] Niger Delta, southern Nigeria. Syntypes: BMNH 1909.7.16.40-41 (2) mouth of Niger, 1908.12.9.53 (1) 80 mi east of Lagos. •Valid as Arnoldichthys spilopterus (Boulenger 1909) -- (Paugy 1984:163 [ref. 6183], Paugy in Lévêque et al. 1990:232 [ref. 21589], Poll & Gosse 1995:145 [ref. 24781], Melo & Stiassny 2024:[21] [ref. 41653]). Current status: Valid as Arnoldichthys spilopterus (Boulenger 1909). Lepidarchidae. Distribution: West Africa: Niger and Ogun River basins, Nigeria. Habitat: freshwater.
