Current status: Valid as Ctenops McClelland 1845. Osphronemidae: Luciocephalinae.

Diplopterus Gray [J. E.] 1830:Pl. 87 (v. 1) Masc. Diplopterus pulcher Gray 1830. Type by monotypy. Also appeared with description in Gray 1831:8 [ref. 1879]. Objectively invalid; preoccupied by Diplopterus Boie 1826 in Aves and by Diplopterus Agassiz 1835 in fossil fishes. Replaced by Luciocephalus Bleeker 1850. •Synonym of Luciocephalus Bleeker 1850 -- (Roberts 1989:178 [ref. 6439], Kottelat 2013:453 [ref. 32989]). 1°Homonym. Current status: Synonym of Luciocephalus Bleeker 1850. Osphronemidae: Luciocephalinae.

Luciocephalus Bleeker [P.] 1850:24 Masc. Diplopterus pulcher Gray 1830. Type by being a replacement name. Evidently proposed as a replacement name for Diplopterus Gray 1831, preoccupied by Diplopterus Boie 1826 in Aves. Also appeared in Bleeker 1851:325. •Valid as Luciocephalus Bleeker 1850 -- (Kottelat 1989:20 [ref. 13605], Roberts 1989:178 [ref. 6439], Britz et al. 1995:77 [ref. 22701], Britz & Kottelat 2002:243 [ref. 26536], Tan & Ng 2005:126 [28283]). Current status: Valid as Luciocephalus Bleeker 1850. Osphronemidae: Luciocephalinae.
