Apparently an unneeded replacement for (and objective synonym of) Oncopterus Steindachner 1874, not preoccupied by Oncoptera Lacordaaire 1869. •Synonym of Oncopterus Steindachner 1874 -- (Evseenko 2004:19 [ref. 27606]). Current status: Synonym of Oncopterus Steindachner 1874. Oncopteridae.

Oncopterus Steindachner [F.] 1874:172 Masc. Oncopterus darwinii Steindachner 1874. Type by monotypy. Not preoccupied by Oncoptera Lacordaire 1869, Curioptera Whitley 1951 is an unneeded replacement. Appeared first in the abstract in 1874 as above, then in 1875, ref. 4221, p. 363. •Valid as Oncopterus Steindachner 1874 -- (Norman 1934:414 [ref. 6893], Ahlstrom et al. 1984:643 [ref. 13641], Sakamoto 1984:210 [ref. 5273], Inada in Nakamura et al. 1986:314 [ref. 14235], Evseenko 2004:19 [ref. 27606]). Current status: Valid as Oncopterus Steindachner 1874. Oncopteridae.
