Raniceps Oken [L.] (ex Cuvier) 1817:1182a Neut. Gadus raninus Müller 1788 (= Blennius raninus Linnaeus 1758). Based on "Les Raniceps" of Cuvier 1816:217 [ref. 993]. Technical addition of species after latinization by Oken not researched. •Valid as Raniceps Oken 1817 -- (Svetovidov 1973:315 [ref. 7169], Fahay & Markle 1984:266 [ref. 13653], Svetovidov in Whitehead et al. 1986:707 [ref. 13676], Cohen in Cohen et al. 1990:73 [ref. 18936]). Current status: Valid as Raniceps Oken 1817. Ranicipitidae.
