First available species added by Cuvier in Cuvier & Valenciennes 1837:321 as above. Objectively invalid; preoccupied by Platyptera Meigen 1803 in Diptera, replaced by Rhyacichthys Boulenger 1901. •Nomen Nudum in Balitoridae -- (Kottelat 2012:44 [ref. 32367]). •Synonym of Rhyacichthys Boulenger 1901 -- (Larson 2011:52 [ref. 31724], Kottelat 2013:386 [ref. 32989], Parenti 2021:437 [ref. 38603]). 1°Homonym. An available overlooked name that is older than Rhyacichthys Boulenger 1901 -- (Roberts 1993:17 [ref. 21799]). Perhaps intended as Platyptera as used by Cuvier 1829. Preoccupation with Platypterus Chandoir 1838 in Coleoptera. •Unjustified emendation of Platyptera Cuvier 1829 -- (Kottelat 2013:386 [ref. 32989]). •Synonym of Rhyacichthys Boulenger 1901 -- (Parenti 2021:437 [ref. 38603]).
