Technically a senior synonym of Rhyacichthys aspro (Valenciennes 1837) according to Roberts 1993:41 [ref. 21799] who suggests following current usage in recognizing Rhyacichthys and R. aspro as valid. •Erroneous spelling of Platypinnis flavescens Valenciennes 1842 -- (Kottelat 2013:387 [ref. 32989], Parenti 2021:437 [ref. 38603]). Current status: Synonym of Rhyacichthys aspro (Valenciennes 1837). Rhyacichthyidae. Habitat: freshwater, brackish.

Holotype (unique): MNHN 1992-0018. •Valid as Rhyacichthys guilberti Dingerkus & Séret 1992 -- (Larson 2011:56 [ref. 31724], Kottelat 2013:387 [ref. 32989], Amick & Toko 2021:6 [ref. 38599], Keith et al. 2021:78 [ref. 38257], Parenti 2021:437 [ref. 38603], Haÿ et al. 2022:133 [ref. 39831]). Current status: Valid as Rhyacichthys guilberti Dingerkus & Séret 1992. Rhyacichthyidae. Distribution: Western Pacific: New Caledonia (locally extinct), Vanuatu, Solomons Islands and Papua. Habitat: freshwater.
