Regarded as misspelled Orycnopsis in original description, based on Orcynus Cuvier, which Gill spelled as Orycnus. W." only [apparently S. D. Wood]. Whitley named the type as Wanderer wallisi Whitley and that is type if regarded as a new genus; see Appendix A in Eschmeyer 1990 [ref. 20647]. •Synonym of Euthynnus Lütken 1883 -- (Collette 2003:3 [ref. 27312]).
