Type somewhat unclear, apparently Bloch & Schneider recognized only one species in the genus. Jordan 1917:86-87 [ref. 2407] gives a full reproduction of the description. Rafinesque 1815:91 [ref. 3584] placed near Trachiurus, Jordan indicated it had much in common with Stylephorus cordatus Shaw. •Synonym of Trachipterus Goüan 1770 -- (Parenti 2019:112 [ref. 37117]).
