Appeared first as above in notice of manuscript; perhaps without differentiating characters; species only as "...et il dédie l'espèce type à M. Temminck,..." Appeared in more detail in Cantraine 1837 [ref. 716] where the type species was listed as Rovetus Temminckii and the genus, written as Acanthoderma, was abandoned. •Synonym of Ruvettus Cocco 1833 -- (Nakamura & Parin 1993:52 [ref. 21769] as Acanthoderma). Current status: Synonym of Ruvettus Cocco 1833. Gempylidae.
