Also appeared in French version 1823:376 [ref. 5104]; regarded by Kottelat (1987:370 [ref. 5962]) as available; genus usually credited to Bleeker 1860 and species to Valenciennes 1842; both authors providing complete descriptions (see also Alfred 1961:86 [ref. 20553], Kottelat 1987:370 [ref. 5962]). •As a nomen nudum in synonymy of Hampala Bleeker 1860 -- (Roberts 1989:40 [ref. 6439]). •In Cyprininae, tribe Smiligastrini -- (Yang et al. 2015:99 [ref. 33694] and applies to all genera and species currently in Barbinae). •Valid as Hampala Kuhl & van Hasselt 1823 -- (Chu & Cui in Chu & Chen 1989:157 [ref. 13584], Kottelat 2013:109 [ref. 32989], Zhang et al. 2016:90 [ref. 34477]).
