Chironemus Cuvier [G.] 1829:146 Masc. Chironemus georgianus Cuvier 1829. Type by subsequent monotypy. Species essentially as name only in Cuvier 1829, although species was cited with a page number in Cuvier & Valenciennes [published one month later]. Cuvier & Valenciennes (April) 1829:78 [ref. 4879] described the species and serve to fix the type by subsequent monotypy. •Valid as Chironemus Cuvier 1829 -- (Meléndez C. 1990 [ref. 20883], Gomon et al. 1994:638 [ref. 22532], Hoese & Bray 2006:1350 [ref. 29000], Gomon 2008:621 [ref. 30616], Meléndez & Dyer 2010:683, 684 [ref. 32114], Stewart 2015:1341 [ref. 34196]). Current status: Valid as Chironemus Cuvier 1829. Chironemidae.
