Based on "Les Héliases" Cuvier 1829:160; latinized first as above, with six included species. Type apparently designated first by Valenciennes 1845:503 in Dict. Univ. Hist. Nat. v. 6 according to Fowler, MS. Variously misspelled or emended to Haliastes, Heliasus, and Heliazes in early literature (see Monod 1973:424 [ref. 7193]). •Synonym of Chromis Cuvier 1814 -- (Parin 2003:S17 [ref. 28536], Parin et al. 2014:377 [ref. 33547], Parenti 2021:48 [ref. 38418]). Current status: Synonym of Chromis Cuvier 1814. Pomacentridae: Chrominae.
