Scyris Cuvier [G.] 1829:209 Fem. Gallus alexandrinus Geoffroy St. Hilaire 1817. Type by subsequent designation. Appeared in 1829 with species cited as "Le Gal d'Alexandrie." First technical addition of species cited by scientific name apparently was in Cuvier & Valenciennes 1833:145-153 [ref. 1002] (S. indica and S. alexandrina). Earliest technical subsequent designation not established. •Synonym of Alectis Rafinesque 1815 -- (Daget & Smith-Vaniz 1986:308 [ref. 6207], Kottelat 2013:331 [ref. 32989]). •Valid as Scyris Cuvier 1829 -- (Hureau & Tortonese 1973:378 [ref. 7198], Kimura et al. 2022:21 [ref. 38998]). Current status: Valid as Scyris Cuvier 1829. Carangidae: Caranginae.
