P. melanocephala and P. trigonocephala mentioned with original description, but both were name only and unavailable [never made available]. First available species added by Cuvier in Cuvier & Valenciennes 1837:321 as above. Objectively invalid; preoccupied by Platyptera Meigen 1803 in Diptera, replaced by Rhyacichthys Boulenger 1901. •In the synonymy of Rhyacichthys Boulenger 1901 -- (Larson 2011:52 [ref. 31724], Kottelat 2013:386 [ref. 32989]). •Nomen Nudum in Balitoridae -- (Kottelat 2012:44 [ref. 32367]). 1°Homonym.
