Also appeared in Gray 1831:8 [ref. 1879] as Acanthonotus Hardwickii. Apparently not preoccupied by Acanthonotus Cuvier 1800 (nomen nudum), but preoccupied by Acanthonotus Bloch & Schneider 1801 and Acanthonotus Goldfuss 1809 in Mammalia. Objectively invalid. •Synonym of Ailia Gray 1830 -- (Jayaram 2006:117 [ref. 28762] with Acanthonotus dated 1831, Ferraris 2007:356 [ref. 29155]). 1°Homonym. Current status: Synonym of Ailia Gray 1830. Ailiidae.
