Two species (oblongus and lunaris) mentioned; earliest subsequent designation perhaps is Bleeker 1865:46 [ref. 416] through objective synonym Gastrophysus; Jordan 1919:196 [ref. 2410] lists lunaris as type. Apparently preoccupied, replaced by Gastrophysus Müller 1832. •Synonym of Lagocephalus Swainson 1839 -- (Shipp 1974:17 [ref. 7147]). •Synonym of Takifugu Abe 1949 based on placement of type species. Current status: Synonym of Takifugu Abe 1949. Tetraodontidae.
