Chrysiptera (subgenus of Glyphisodon) Swainson [W.] 1839:171, 216 [ref. 4303]. Fem. Glyphisodon azureus Cuvier 1830. Type by monotypy. Also designated by Swain 1883:273 [ref. 5966]. Chrysoptera Agassiz 1846:84 [ref. 64] is an unjustified emendation. Not preoccupied by Chrysoptera Latreille in Coleoptera; Iredaleichthys Whitley 1928 is an unneeded replacement. •Valid as Chrysiptera Swainson 1839 -- (Yoshino in Masuda et al. 1984:198 [ref. 6441], Allen 1986:676 [ref. 5631], Allen 1987:107 [ref. 5995], Allen 2001:3341 [ref. 26132], Manica et al. 2002:311 [ref. 28222], Allen et al. 2006:1452 [ref. 29090], Allen & Erdmann 2008:172 [ref. 29484], Allen et al. 2010:62 [ref. 30801]). Current status: Valid as Chrysiptera Swainson 1839. Pomacentridae.
