As name only in Bleeker 1845:523 [ref. 312], then as name in synonymy in Bleeker 1873:372, 383 [ref. 12588] (see Mees & Kailola 1977:33-34 [ref. 5183]). Validly used by Fowler 1918:36 [ref. 1396] so dates to Bleeker 1873, with included species by Fowler as above. Current status: Valid as Mesopristes Bleeker 1873. Terapontidae.
