Proposed as replacement for Lamia Bonaparte, apparently not an original description, but in the synonymy of Lamna Cuvier. Gistel's name is unvailable if Bonaparte's Lamia is not regarded as an original description. •Synonym of Lamna Cuvier 1816 -- (Compagno 1984:246 [ref. 6474], Compagno 2001:117 [ref. 26323]).
