Type apparently designated first by Bleeker 1865:49 [ref. 416] with genus spelled Chonerhinus; the original correct spelling is Chonerhinos. Type apparently not Tetraodon (Arothron) modestus Bleeker 1850 (see Kottelat 1999:597[ref. 24610]). •Valid as Chonerhinos Bleeker 1854 -- (Roberts 1982 [ref. 5513] with type as modestus, Arai 1983:208 [ref. 14249], Kottelat 1985:275 [ref. 11441], Kottelat 1989:21 [ref. 13605], Roberts 1989:186 [ref. 6439], Kottelat 2013:475 [ref. 32989]). Current status: Valid as Chonerhinos Bleeker 1854. Tetraodontidae.
