Type regarded as by monotypy, other species mentioned were ones included by Kaup (manuscript) as quoted by Richardson. Name quoted from Müller and from Kaup manuscript, but Prilonotus probably a slip for Psilonotus Swainson 1839 and not an original generic description. •In the synonymy of Canthigaster Swainson 1839 -- (Kottelat 2013:473 [ref. 32989]). Current status: Synonym of Canthigaster Swainson 1839. Tetraodontidae.
