Cephalus Basilewsky [S.] 1855:235 Masc. Cephalus mantschuricus Basilewsky 1855. Type by monotypy. Objecitvely invalid; preoccupied by Cephalus Shaw 1804 in fishes; apparently not replaced. In Oxygastrinae based on Hypophthalmichthys of Tang et al. 2013:101 [ref. 33447]. •Synonym of Hypophthalmichthys Bleeker 1860 -- (Howes 1981:45 [ref. 14200], Kottelat 2013:111 [ref. 32989], Endruweit 2025:124 [ref. 42401]). 1°Homonym. Current status: Synonym of Hypophthalmichthys Bleeker 1860. Xenocyprididae.
