Doidyxodon Valenciennes [A.] 1846:Pl. 5 Masc. Doidyxodon freminvillii Valenciennes 1846. Type by monotypy. Originally named Doidyxodon on Pl. 5 (Atlas, 1846) to which genus and species date as above; name spelled Doydixodon in accompanying text which was not published until 1855:323 [ref. 4504]. Doydixodon used by authors (e.g., Kner & Steindachner 1867:358 [ref. 2640], Pequeño & Sáez 2008:101 [ref. 30076]). For stability Doydixodon can be maintained. •Valid as Doydixodon Valenciennes 1846 -- (Pequeño & Sáez 2008:101 [ref. 30076], Knudsen & Clements 2013:77 [ref. 33031]). •Synonym of Girella Gray 1835 -- (McCosker & Rosenblatt 2010:193 [ref. 30957]).
