Gilbert 1998:15 [ref. 23395] incorrectly regards Girard 1858:302 [ref. 4911] as establishing the type species, but Girard's use of "its typical species is" [and then lists 2 nominal species] is probably insufficient. •Valid as Clinostomus Girard 1856 -- (Robins et al. 1980:21 [ref. 7111], Jenkins & Burkhead 1994:290 [ref. 21581], Gilbert 1998:15 [ref. 23395], Simons & Mayden 1999:16 [ref. 23700]).
