Four species included by Bleeker 1860:115, 213 [ref. 380], two with question (also as Opistocheilos). Type perhaps not designated until Jordan 1919:287 [ref. 4904]. Spelled Opistocheilus by authors, including Bleeker 1863:196 [ref. 397].
