One species included by Bleeker 1860:115 [ref. 380]. •Synonym of Cyprinion Heckel 1843 -- (Howes 1982:331 [ref. 14202]). •Valid as Semiplotus Bleeker 1860 -- (Jayaram 1981:95 [ref. 6497], Chen 1989:118 [ref. 14144], Vishwanath & Kosygin 2000:92 [ref. 24889], Kottelat 2013:162 [ref. 32989], Yang et al. 2015:99 [ref. 33694] in Cyprininae, tribe Barbini). Current status: Valid as Semiplotus Bleeker 1860. Cyprinidae: Barbinae.
